Indication
Surfactant administration catheter for the treatment of premature or full-term high-risk neonates or with respiratory distress syndrome caused by pulmonary surfactant deficiency (hyaline membrane disease - MHD).
Product highlights
Surfcath is a catheter for exogenous surfactant administration with LISA method (Less Invasive Surfactant Administration), intended to be used for the treatment of new-borns under non-invasive ventilation suffering from respiratory distress syndrome (RDS) caused by lung surfactant deficiency.
LISA method consists of a surfactant administration through a thin catheter inserted with Magill forceps through the vocal cords while maintaining a non-invasive ventilation.
Surfcath is designed to facilitate using this method thanks to its different characteristics. Surfcath is semi-rigid, hence no Magill forceps is needed for its use allowing a high maneuverability of the product.

Description
Surfactant administration catheter for the treatment of premature or full-term high-risk neonates or with respiratory distress syndrome caused by pulmonary surfactant deficiency (hyaline membrane disease - HMD).Surfcath™ is a PEBA transparent catheter of 20 cm long, with an outer diameter of 6Fr and a centimeter marking to guide insertion.
The distal tip of the device is a blunt black tip of 2 cm, bent at 30 degrees. It consists of a flexible part of 15 mm, and an extra-flexible part of 5 mm.
The proximal tip of the Surfcath™ features a Luer-Lock connector.
The tube is curvable and allows the user to manually give the Surfcath™ the desired shape, according to its needs.
